PRESS RELEASE
Data Conversion Laboratory Helping Life Sciences Content Producers Understand the Impact and Benefits of Structured Product Labeling
DCL-hosted webinar series on implementing SPL will feature Howard Shatz, Ann Rockley, Mark Pohl

Fresh Meadows, NY, Dec. 15, 2014 – As medical device manufacturers join pharmaceutical companies in using the SPL (Structured Product Labeling) markup language standard, content teams have a greater role to play and need the understanding and skills to work with the standard. Starting January 2015, Data Conversion Laboratory (DCL) will present a series of three webinars on the benefits and the critical aspects of implementing SPL.

The three one-hour webinars will be facilitated by Howard Shatz, DCL’s SPL expert, and will include a subject matter expertise in content, SPL, UDI (Unique Device Identifier) and the legal aspects of drug listings. “The volume of information that must be managed, increasing regulatory requirements, and rising consumer expectations are converging to challenge companies that produce pharmaceuticals and medical devices,” said Mark Gross, CEO of DCL. “We’ve put together this webinar series to guide content teams through basics of SPL, to help get them ready to implement and leverage it going forward.”

Webinar topics include defining SPL, applying SPL to the medical devices sector, leveraging SPL to improve structured content practices, and a case study on implementing SPL for drug listings.

Ann Rockley, CEO of The Rockley Group, who will lead two of the webinars with Shatz, is a well-known leader in content strategy, particularly with regard to content reuse, intelligent content strategies for multichannel delivery, and content management best practices. Mark Pohl, a pharmaceutical patent attorney who began his career as a molecular biologist, will present the case study on producing drug listings using SPL.
