Data Conversion Laboratory Commences its 45th Year in Business

The blue sapphire is typically used to designate a 45th anniversary. Sapphires symbolize enduring strength with their hardness measuring a 9 on the Mohs hardness scale (just behind diamonds at 10). This gemstone certainly represents the attributes DCL strives to embody: wisdom, sincerity, trust, and loyalty.
DCL President Mark Gross sat down to discuss the company's evolution over its 45-year history. He delves into the company's first projects, the challenges of early technology, and how DCL adapted to the digital age. Reflecting on the past, he highlights the enduring need for data conversion and the impact of AI on the industry.
Be sure to watch until the end of the interview when Mark reflects on what 45 years means to him!
DCL began in the early 1980s doing tracking software and early word-processing conversions, evolving from MJ Gross & Company into Data Conversion Laboratory as the microcomputer era took off.
Over 45 years, DCL has continuously adapted from shipping thousands of physical floppy disks to handling terabytes of fully digital content, reflecting the massive growth and change in data volumes and formats.
Despite radical technological change—PCs, the internet, and now AI—the core need DCL serves, converting and restructuring information from one format to another, has remained constant for more than four decades.
